Global law firm's incredible new London office that breaks convention

We proudly present our latest project with the prestigious global law firm Baker McKenzie.

This East London eighth-floor office building is a marvel in sustainability, well being, client engagement and collaboration.

Unlike traditional law firms, this space breaks the mold with an open-plan layout, eliminating the conventional office setup. It features hot-desking, minimal storage, and floors designated for specific functions such as quiet corners, collaboration desks and formal and informal meeting areas for both clients and employees.

The design fosters an inclusive atmosphere, erasing the 'them/us' divide commonly found in corporate environments with a central staircase to encourage movement and interaction between floors.

Project Management

As our furniture consultant, Collaborate worked with us and our designer, Hassell Studio, to source the furniture and handle all negotiations with the suppliers. The team also provided furniture project management, through a sub-contractor, to manage the installation. Every aspect of their work was accurate and considered. I found them to be very knowledgeable about the market and the products on offer and able to find alternatives if the first choice wasn’t suitable. Using a furniture consultant in this way on a large project has paid dividends in the finished result.

The building features a ground breaking 7,800 Sqft  Morey Smith-designed dual reception. This unique reception area spans the building's length, linking Bishopsgate to the verdant Bishops Square and Spitalfields.

There are outdoor terraces across the floors, complemented by an extensive private roof garden and a dedicated Wellness Suite.

Our refurbishment preserves the building's original structural framework, leading to considerable savings in embodied energy. Additionally, it includes a wide array of enhancements focused on environmental sustainability aimed at reducing energy usage, improving waste management, and enhancing air quality.

Baker McKenzie boasts a WELL certification, emphasising green sourcing and ethical practices, including recycled chairs and a Marmoleum flooring, made up of 99% linseed and 1% cacao seeds.

We facilitated the development of bespoke fully customised single-leg, height-adjustable desks from Bene, adding to the workspace's uniqueness.

Impressively, we managed to complete the project under budget and on time!

Thank you to our partners, suppliers and the team at Baker McKenzie for a remarkable experience.
