Senator Group leading the way in commercial furniture manufacturing
Collaborate’s operations team – although based in Farringdon – are invariably on the move travelling far and wide to bring our customers the very best in commercial furniture products and fitout services. A recent example of this took the team up to Lancashire for a guided tour of Senator Group’s large-scale factory site just outside Manchester. Hosted by our account manager - Senator’s Paul Ash – we were treated to an invaluable, close-up look at how these fantastic products are put together.
Established in 1976, Senator Group has become one of the largest office furniture manufacturers in the world. After our trip to Lancashire it’s abundantly clear how their rise to the top has taken place. In fact, their attention to detail, integrity, investment in people, and passion for design, were all key values that the company was built on. Despite its size, Senator Group remains an independent family owned business and these fundamental qualities are still very much in evidence today.
Aside from the sheer scale of the operation being so breath-taking, our team were also stunned by the volume and holistic nature of the processes that take place. Every item of furniture – encompassing all three brands owned by Senator – is made from scratch here in Lancashire. Systems at play include a complete assembly process, fabric testing, and a stringent quality control function.
The extremely high levels of cleanliness in the factory and the meticulous approach to quality control were reminiscent of the high-end automotive sector. However, Senator Group couldn’t do what they do with technology alone. Their unique combination of state of the art manufacturing technology together with traditional, hand-finished expertise is what allows them to create such beautifully finished and detailed furniture collections.
